Tony Dungy

The key behind any team or a sportsperson’s success is his/her or their coach, Tony Dungy is a former formidable American professional football player and now a coach in National Football League. He was former head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996 to 2001 and coach of the Indianapolis Colts from 2002 to 2008. He was the first African-American head coach to be awarded with the prestigious prize, Super Bowl XL when his team, Colts, defeated Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XL. He retired from being a coach to Indianapolis Colts when they were defeated in the playoffs in 2009, January 12. After retirement, he did not sit idle, he worked as an analyst on NBC’s Football night in America. He is also the national level spokesman for the fatherhood program, “All Pro Dad”.  His coaching was magic, because Colts qualified for every playoff when he was their head coach.
His coaching career began when he joined University of Minnesota in 1980 as the assistant coach due to his excellent record in NFL. It was his dream to be a NFL coach and his dream was fulfilled when he was hired as the head coach by Rich McKay to get the team, Tampa Bay buccaneers back on track. He collaborated with defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and coupled their strengths and strategies which resulted in the now- famous Tampa 2. There are many firsts in his career like he was the first NFL coach who led his team to beat all 32 NFL teams.
